Great Beast:
Zmøk
(aka

)

Tiʾâmat
Originally known as N'vāṇa (aka
Dregan ka Nivaas, Abode of Dragons), it was the birthplace of all
dragonkind
... and it was destroyed during the apocalyptic
War of Angels. Reborn within the Worlds of Shadow as the water world called
Aquarion, the ruins of the world it had been lay deep within the abyss submerged by an endless ocean.
The
Age of Aquarion was an age ruled by life in its seas and magnificent sea dragons rose forth to soar in the heavens above them... and it was a world whose time would be all too brief. Then came the collision with Ultima Thūlē that flattened one side of each world against the other joining them together. Separated only by
The Great Barrier (aka the
Edge of the World), the submerged continents became thrust up and then removed into the skies above by the supernatural powers governing this world.
So too would the Great Beast
Zomok be released from the abyss where the Dark One had imprisoned him. A massive vortex of water shot forth into the upper reaches of the atmosphere from the churning ocean waters where this took place and spread out like the canopy of a tree eventually falling as mist and rain. Called the
Whirlpool of Worlds, the continents fell into orbits around it and at its furthest reaches, it forms massive banks of fog concealing a vast mountain range called
Jörmungandr
that extend the entire length of the Great Barriers base.
Jörmungandr is where the majority of dragons dwell and it is from here that the first
Dragonspawn originated when this world was better known as
Drakkara. From among these emerged the
Fél
Sárkány
(half-dragons; aka
Wyvern
) who were ruled over by the Elder Wyvern
Storðar-gandr
(the original Red Dragon Emperor;
Mester Stoorwyrm
). It was he who dared to humble all dragonkind before him and who founded the original Imperial House called
Zin
over which he proclaimed himself this worlds first Lord Magistrate.
Storðar-gandr would rule until the
Black Dragon Emperor defeated and imprisoned him within the Whirlpool of Worlds causing the Fél Sárkány became scattered with his fall. They then became a semi-mythical race better known for their good works resulting in this world being renamed after them.
Unlike Storðar-gandr, the Black Dragon Emperor chose to rule from the interior realm building the
Imperial House of Dragons (aka
Drake
noir
) and bringing with him a host of Dragonspawn from the
Dyn
dreigiau
(Dragon-men),
Dyndraig'
firain
(Fair Dragon-men; half-human),
Wruen
and the
Guivres
.
But the Fél Sárkány turned against the Black Dragon Emperor by coming to the aid of a growing number of humans that were finding their way to Wyvern and who were making claims of their own to rule this world. As human populations grew, some among them made a pact with the devil as the fallen god
Vṛitra
had been reborn upon Wyvern and become a servant to the Mother Goddess
Tiʾâmat. Herself the living embodiment of chaos, Tiʾâmat would aid Vṛitra only to betray him after the Black Dragon Emperors' destruction seeing that Vṛitra was, in actuality, a servant to the Great Beast.
The Fél Sárkány bred themselves into human populations creating a new hybrid race called the
Saň
(aka
Negyed
Sárkány; Quarter Dragon) who now came to rule the
Imperial House of Dragons by right of conquest.
All Saň possess the horns of dragons curving backward on their heads which differentiates them from other humans who remain pure of Fél Sárkány blood. There are nine races of Saň who might possess multiple colors on their bodies revealing mixed-race heritage. To varying degrees, they have other dragon-like attributes such as scutes, scales, eyes, and sometimes tails which are generally located on their limbs. Males tend to have longer horns and females give live birth like the mammals they descend from.
Any descended from humans who came after the initial human arrivals will still be human unless they were born from the Saň. In such cases, the human will have only slight traces of their dragon lineage because only a pureblooded Saň would have more of those attributes.
There are five main continents in its skies.
Evreğen
,
Pretannīa
,
Fú Sāng
,
Aždahā
and
Drakkar which retains the former name for this world. Smaller microcontinents and islands exist as well with new ones sometimes rising from the abyss or colliding with one another breaking them into smaller pieces. Some are so small that a single house might sit upon them, others maybe a small town or village while others are inhabited both above and below in subterranean areas.
Wyvern is also known as the
World of Steam because while advanced technologies will not function here, the often brutal force of steam-power would. It is a world known for its swords and sorcery where knights make war with dragons and pretty much anything else. This is a world of great sailing ships plying the airways as easily as the seaways and where it's more evolved to appear like the
Victorian
and
Edwardian
eras on Earth even in regions where the flavor is decidedly more oriental.
The Imperial House of Dragons is also known as the
Imperial House of Victorian Night for this reason and Drakenoir, the internal realm within it, takes on a decidedly 19th-century European flavor. Erected on Pretannīa, the Imperial House is ruled over by a reincarnation of the original Black Dragon Emperor who is known more simply as the
Dead King and while power resides in his hands, it's the
Black Dragon Empress with whom most are more familiar.
Dragons often dwell beneath the continents within caverns and tunnel systems where dragonslayers often traveled when dragons emerged to do harm on the surface regions. The skies are not limited to birds and dragons as whales and other sea creatures can defy the effects of gravity to soar in the heavens before returning to the ocean with most fishes being at least semi-amphibious.
Beneath the continents lay Aquarion, the world ocean wherein lay the most gigantic of dragons whose size is made possible by the waters' ability to buoy them up to defy the effects of gravity. Parts of the planet's solid core had been shattered and thrust up that had not risen from the seas but remained beneath the surface.
These are the realms of the
Drakaina
and the
Wruen, the semi-humanoid beings who rule the deep and regularly make war with the surface realms. The Drakaina are similar to mermaids only they are half dragon and half human in form. The Wruen are amphibious dragon-men but possess humanoid legs and scale-covered bodies with heads definitely more dragon than human.
