How many still use Poser ? was created by MysticBlueRaven
I was wondering if anyone still uses poser and what version are you using. I use poser 11.

I use Poser 10, 11, and 11 Pro. Depending on what I am trying to accomplish I use one or all of them

Hi MBR, in answer to your question. . . it's still Poser! However, if not for my antiquated computers I think I'd be a lot more impressed. I'm restoring a car now so I've been somewhat remiss in keeping my computer equipment up to date. (I'm so ashamed) But, to answer your question other than a few bugs, it is probably the best version of Poser yet, even though I'd probably call it more 11.5 Pro than Poser 12. If you don't have an upgraded graphics card, say a RTX 30 series, you may only notice a slight improvement in render times over 11 Pro if any. I find starting the program takes much longer to load the library for some reason. Coding errors by third party contributors where they have left calls for a .pmd that no longer exists and is not needed, etc.

On the other hand, many things work better than ever. If you use DoF 12's implementation is the best and smoothest ever. Any materials made for Superfly render very well. Superfly is still just a subset of Blender's Cycles render engine and not nearly as good.

Overall, I'd say if you have upgraded hardware and can get it cheap OK, otherwise stick with 11 Pro.

Looks like I will not be getting poser 12 for awhile. I know this laptop wouldn't be able to handle poser 12. I have been taking my sweet time getting my desk top taken care of. My desktop has an EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB . Can that be good enough for poser 12

You should have no problem running it You just won't be able to use some advanced features, which you will not miss and you will not get any faster renders than you get now. You could probably pick up a older gaming machine like mine, an AMD FX-6300 w/ a Geforce 1050 Ti graphics card for little money and see a real difference. But, the newer and more powerful machines will seem to take no time at all.

I don't know but I've been hearing that Poser 12 is actually far easier and less resource heavy so maybe you can use it on your puter.

My old laptop an HP Pavilion with an AMD A10-5745m w/ Radeon HD graphics will run Poser 12 . If your running Win 10 you should have no problems. Also the graphics card in my laptop is weaker than a Geforce 840m and that is not as powerful as your GTX 960!

I mainly use poser and I have Poser 12, I have been trying to use Daz Studio more because of all the content that I have for it but it's a struggle and I'm so easily distracted that I find it hard to buckle down and try to devote much time to learning how to use it properly. I have really gotten back into counted cross stitching so most of my free time is taken up with that.

Well I did use Poser Pro 2012, stoped using it. Now after 5 years, stepped over to DAZ-Studio, and I luv it... is Poser a dying program, in away...? maybe...?

The latest reviews I'm seeing for the new release of Poser have almost all been positive. Renderosity wants this to work where Smith Micro was mostly a software distribution company who didn't devote much time to updating the program. So, I would expect that Renderosity will bring the program back and devote more resources to making it successful again. The big question is will they make it free and bombard us with a lot of new extensions and character packs like DAZ does as a lot of people really hate how they do that with the character packs.

I am still using Poser 11 however am trying to learn Daz Studio. There is far more content being made these days for Genesis so I thought I would give it a try.
