Theschell 3D Works on hold was created by Theschell
Just to let everyone know, work on Hiro and my other 3D projects is on hold right now... I've been having medical issues which escalated until they resulted in a trip to the ER, a 3 day hospital stay, and I'm booked for emergency surgery next week which god willing will go well and get me on the road to recovery...

Wishing you the best Chris and keep us updated. I fully understand allowing those medical issues to build up until something bad happens. I kept ignoring all the signs something was wrong a few years ago until I had one of those emergency trips... found out my appendix was on the verge of bursting and part of my intestine had necrosed (I think that's the term they used). I still don't take care of myself as well as I should.

So you get better and get back to work on your projects ok :)

I too am sorry to hear about your health Chris. Really hope all goes well and you come out feeling much better. As for you Steven, you need to keep on top of your health. Gets boring here in Australia without you. I feel for you guys being so far away and all. Get well and stay well.

Wasn't so much that I let things build up as it was that when I did go to try and get help the doc's misdiagnosed the symptoms and it wasn't till I was able to finally get the attention of a specialist that I was able to finally get the issue properly diagnosed. Even the ER doc had missed the diagnosis and if I hadn't fought to see a specialist for a second opinion I'd likely be in ICU right now. As it is because of the late diagnosis I've only bought 6 weeks if I don't have the surgery ASAP... It was a result of the specialist over-riding the ER diagnosis that gave me the 3 day hospital stay, and has given me the chance at surgery before my condition gets any worse. The 3 day stay got me stabilized so that I could get back home to make sure my rent and bills got paid, and to notify my family and friends before I go back in for surgery and a prolonged hospital stay... Luckily the specialist realized the ER doc was wrong and bumped less urgent patients back so that he could get me in for emergency procedures, and he's bumped less urgent surgery cases to get me in for the surgery as early as he possibly could...

Well dude, just know we're thinking about you. My own health issues began when a doctor put me on med's that shouldn't be mixed. So I know about doctors screwing up. Same happened with my mother contributing to her death.

So you may be a very lucky man that you got that specialist to override what others were telling you.

I wanted to update everyone here on my status... I'm back home to finish recovering from emergency abdominal surgery. I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the bowel and liver. Surgery was successful in removing the tumors in my large intestine, but the liver will need additional treatment and I'm looking at chemo, possibly radiation, and down the road potentially more surgery to deal with it. Currently the cancer is now confined to my liver and according to my blood work isn't currently affecting my health in any immediate way and the prognosis from the specialists is that with successful chemo/radiation therapies I'll eventually have a full recovery. Other than my liver, I've been found to be in excellent over-all health given my age and physical condition, and the specialists have every confidence in a successful outcome.

As I understand it, liver cancer is one of the easiest types of cancer to beat because of the livers ability to regenerate. As long as its still at an operable stage, they can literally remove most of it and you'll survive. The problem we normally hear in regard to alcoholics is that the liver is completely gone but even then there are still some miracles that happen where it's regenerative abilities kick in if the person does what they need to in order for that to happen.

So, this to me sounds like great news as once you recover enough, they might even put surgery on the table if the chemo and radiation don't work.

But didn't I hear that in the UK they allow other treatments that we don't in the US?

That's what the specialists have told me yes... Surgery is one of several options I'll be given. I'll be starting Oncology consultations in the next week or so to explore my treatment options more fully but chemo, radiation, and gene therapy treatments are among them, and they've told me surgery is an option as well, but that they would like to try less invasive treatments first and reserve surgery as a last resort if the other treatments aren't as effective as they should be. I'll have better information as to my actual course of treatment once I've been able to meet with the Oncology specialists and once I've fully recovered from my current surgery (they can't start any further treatments till I'm fully recovered).

I've had further discussions with my surgical team, and we're still awaiting lab pathology reports from the tumors they removed (COVID had caused massive delays in processing other medical tests/reports cause... you know... no one is getting normal sick at all). Pending the final pathology reports, I'm scheduled for 3 months of chemo treatments to begin once I've fully recovered from surgery unless the final report indicates that other treatment options are available or more appropriate (gene therapies etc). Sadly I can't begin treatment until those final pathology reports come in and I'm still waiting for Oncology consultations as they can't begin planning until they've received them as well (the final reports will tell us what strain of cancer I have and the type/strain will tell us what options are best suited to treat it)...

Pathology reports from the surgical biopsy finally came back and my first consultation appointment with Oncology is set for next Monday morning so that we can start setting up for chemo and/or other treatments...
